The Red Satchel

This is the bag that made me realize how much I love hand stitching. I wanted to make a satchel that stood out and was a little different from a traditional satchel. I decided on the tall and skinny shape early on and then decided to create a painting on the leather. I was then able to lay my pattern out and panel the painted and non painted pieces together to create the bag.

Process.

This bag was a representation of my love for 1980's fashion and finding a way to represent this in leatherwork. This satchel was sort of a turning point for me and led me to discover my love for unique, colorful, handstitched handbags.
